Brief passage: It may have been that in the past you only wore a (hopefully) cheap short formal dress to cocktail parties. In recent years that tendency has undergone a noticeable shift.
Short formal dresses are being seen at many social events, including proms and homecoming dances these days. You see more of them all the time and there is a great variety of short dresses available at literally all price levels.
The favorite materials for short dresses are taffeta, chiffon, satin and silk, among others. A dress made from sleek fabric will give you a sexier look, while lighter fabrics like taffeta and chiffon lend themselves to flirty and fun styles.
Keep the structure of your body in mind when choosing cheap formal dresses. There are lovely dresses for every type of body, but not every dress goes with every type of body. Too tight isn’t becoming on anybody, slim or full figured; neither is too loose. Any dress should show your body as beautiful, no matter the size you use; it should show off your femininity without revealing it all.
Remember less may be more, and I don’t mean less fabric, but rather trying less hard to impress. A simple dress worn naturally by a woman with confidence is more impressive than any high end designer dress on a woman that feels uncomfortable in it. An uncomfortable dress not only ruins your evening, it usually isn’t flattering on you either, since your confidence suffers great set backs when you feel awkward and self conscious. So it is very important that you are comfortable in any dress you wear and that you can move freely.
Here’s a suggestion if you want to know what styles and colors look best on you. Next time you’re at a shopping center try on cheap formal dresses in various styles, lengths and colors. To know what a dress really looks like on you, try this: In the mirror you don’t see all angles. Take a friend along to take a few pictures of you in a dress you like with your cell phone from several angles like front, back and side view. Don’t look at the photos yet, but rather try on several quite different models.
